Preparing to Sell

Declutter: anything you don’t use on a daily basis needs to be removed out. Put it is storage, sell it, throw it away or give it away. A cluttered space with lots of stuff makes a space feel smaller. The goal is to make your home feel as large as possible. *Safety tip* valuables, important documents, medications should be locked up and/or removed out.

Depersonalize: put away the family photos, the collections, etc. By making the space as neutral as possible it lets potential buyers envision their idea home. Your stuff makes it feel like your home and not theirs.

Clean: clean, clean, clean, clean the property within an inch of its life! Inside and out! What buyers smell and see sticks with them. An untidy property gives the impression the home was not taken care of. Don’t neglect the exterior, curb appeal is gets buyers in the door.

Make Repairs: pay for them now or pay for them with a closing credit or low offer, if it costs you less to have it done before listing and it makes your home more desirable, its probably worth a small investment. So, finish painting, put up the missing trim, replace the broke doorknob.

Light and Neutrals: are your friends: create a blank canvas with neutral colors. Inside most people want to be interior decorators, give them that opportunity.

Exterior: the first impression is the one that lasts. Cut the grass, pull the weeds, and give the yard a good rake.
